Bazaar 1

Christmas Bazaar 2012

The Christmas Bazaar was held at the Village Hall on Friday 30th November. The event was very successful. It was opened by local MP, Mr Chris Evans who was pleased to welcome the real Santa Claus to the Hall.

The event was well supported both by the many local ladies who had spent many weeks preparing the event and , in fact, producing many of the wonderful Christmas gifts and

decorations for sale at the Bazaar and by the many visitors, both local and from further afield who went away clutching their purchases.

Santa Claus met all the children (and some slightly older) and gave them all Christmas presents and noted their Christmas present wishes.

MP, Chris Evans also kindly donated a cheque for £75 to the Hafodyrynys Community Association.

Anyone passing the Village Hall and hearing Irish singing may have thought that they were hearing a Daniel O'Donnell CD but they would have been wrong. They were hearing one of Daniel O'Connell's several rehearsals in the Hall for his show on the 18th of October at the Congress Theatre, Cwmbran.

Daniel's Band

Daniel performs all the hits from "Stand Beside Me", "I Just Want to Dance With You" to the Irish Classics, "Danny Boy", "I'll Take You Home Again Kathleen" and many more.

Daniel O'Connell also comes from Ireland and is he nearest thing to the real Daniel O'Donnell, Donegal's very own "boy next door". As you can see Daniel has the backing of a live band and singers.

No it's SUPER-DAVE !

The chairman of the Hafodyrynys Community Association, Mr Andrew Lewis has reported news of proposed boundary changes that may affect the village. The Coalition Government favour a reducion in MPs and, therefore, a reduction in Constituencies. The Electoral Reform Society have recommended that the Islwyn Constituency be abolished. This would mean that Hafodyrynys would become part of Blaenau Gwent. There will be a referendum first but you should be aware of this now. More news to follow as it becomes available.
